Volunteer Opportunities
Peer Mentors for Day Treatment and Training Program
UCP is always eager to involve Peer Mentors in our Day Treatment and Training (DTT) Program for adolescents (DTT) and our Day Treatment and Training Program for Adults (DTA). The program works with adolescents and adults with disabilities to assist each individual in reaching their full potential. Programming includes guidance on decision making, socialization, money management, life skill development and computer skills. The participants are exposed to many real-life situations through field trips to movies, malls, museums, libraries, community recreation areas, an adaptive swimming pool and special community events. The DTA program participants also volunteer at various community organizations throughout the Valley. Every activity in the program is designed to develop new skills or assist in the retention of learned skills.
The Peer Mentors will assist program staff with implementing activities in accordance with individual goals for the program participants. Job responsibilities include:
- Assist program staff with the daily preparation and implementation of classroom and community based activities.
- Assist program staff with the documentation of the achievement of program participant goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the program by interacting with the participants in related activities.
- Assist wit the maintenance of classroom bulletin boards and displays.
- Demonstrate appropriate modeling behavior at all times.
- Use appropriate guidance techniques, positive redirection, and encourage appropriate behavior at all times.
- Demonstrate patience and communicate effectively.
- Interact with children and adolescents with special needs in a compassionate manner.
Administrative Support
We have many administrative volunteer opportunities available at our Laura Dozer Campus. Volunteers will participate in data entry, filing, mailing list maintenance, newsletter development, website maintenance and social media networking.
Special Event Support
UCP has several fundraising events throughout the year. We are always seeking volunteers to join us at our events and assist in coordination of the event. Responsibilities include set-up, concession stands, registration, and children’s activities. Special events are a great time for student groups, corporate groups, or families to volunteer.
For more information on volunteer opportunities or to coordinate a tour of our facility please contact the Development Department by email or at 602.943.5472.
